“Not too pleased”

We came into our room, which had a sign on the nightstand that said "enjoy your smoke free room". The room had a awful stench of smoke! I did unpack anyway since i was attending a wedding there and figured that the hotel would be full. I did call the front desk that did offer me a new room but because I had unpacked I did ask if housekeeping could come and try to take of the stench. The front desk assured me that housekeeping would be there to there to take care of it. We did not ever have the stench removed from the room. The next day we went to the front desk to inquire about a farmer's market we had heard about. We were told she had no idea and to look in the paper. When we checked out we were not asked if we wanted to use the same card that we had to hold the room, she just took it for granted. We did want to use a different card. A little bit of customer service goes a long way!
