“Not very restful”

We stayed at the Ramada in Wytheville, VA which is approximately halfway to our annual South Carolina Vacation spot. The beds were in poor condition. Full size mattress was too soft for sleeping and not healthy for a back. My son used a roll-away bed which was in such poor condition he literally sank in the center, not to mention it was slopped from one end to the other. When I mentioned this to receptionist upon checking out she had no comment. As she was confirming our balance in the computer, I mentioned the poor condition of the roll-away bed and she had no comment....Not even, I'm sorry this occurred. Also, the facility was understaffed as we had to wait until the Manager had time to retrieve the roll-away bed out of storage. Given I reserved this via a phone call to the hotel when I booked the room, I would have expected it to be in the room and in proper condition when we arrived. Upon checking in the comment I received, was "Let me see if we have anymore." Lastly, the tiny fitness center smelled like smoke. Not a very healthy smell for a fitness room.
