“Ramada Encore”

  , Newcastle Upon Tyne
I stayed at the Ramada Encore for a hen party. In terms of location, the hotel is fairly close to Newcastle's amenities. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes in a taxi to get to the city centre. The hotel itself was basic but clean and presentable, which I was happy with. The reception staff were friendly and acted quickly when my friend and I requested an extra bath towel for the room. The only thing that let the hotel down was the breakfast service. One morning, there were no plates left so I asked one of the waiting staff to provide some more. At first, after what seemed a lengthy 10 minutes, she misheard what I said and brought me marmalade. When I corrected her, she went away, and myself and the other guests were stood waiting for 10-15 minutes for more plates. When we still hadn't received any, my friend had to ask the same staff member for plates, and we were finally given some. That same morning, there were no tea and coffee cups available either. When I did manage to get one, it hadn't been cleaned properly. The orange and apple juice was watery, but the main cooked breakfast was satisfactory. We were offered hash browns, eggs, tomatoes, beans and bacon - self-service. The hotel seems very popular among hen and stag parties, so if you're looking for a quieter stay, especially at this time of year, I'd probably advise against the Ramada. But it is a nice hotel, so if you're looking for a basic stay and somewhere to rest your head for the night, the Ramada is a good choice.
