“Good Hotel, Nice Staff”

Service was very good. The hotel manager, Mr. Gutierrez, and the front desk staff (specifically Bettina and Vagish), were very kind and helpful when I needed to extend my stay beyond the time I had booked and were always pleasant whenever I had any questions. The housekeeping staff were efficient as well, keeping the room and surroundings tidy. I stayed in two different rooms at two different occasions during this trip. The first room was in an older section of the property and the other, in a newer wing. I did not have problems with noise during both stays (I did not stay in rooms facing the street) and the appliances and bathroom facilities worked wonderfully in both rooms. The rooms were clean and I appreciated having a room safe as well (big plus!). However, aside from the flat screen TV, everything else was old and dated. There was a certain charm to the old-fashioned theme but old drapes and carpets can have a certain aroma that pervades and an old musty smell can offend someone's sensitivities. I didn't mind; I bought Febreze. One complaint I have are the towels and beddings. The towels are very old and thin and so are the comforters. They need to be retired. They have been washed too many times that their thread count has decreased significantly. There were also two towels during my visit that had permanent stains on them. Also, the quality of the bathroom tissues could use an upgrade. I understand two-ply is not popular in hotels but maybe something softer? The complimentary breakfast was very much appreciated although not the best. There were at least three choices of coffee and tea and those were good. The baked items (muffins and waffles) were not fresh and that made them unappealing. Perhaps individually packaged muffins and danish would be a better choice. The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is very close to two freeway on-ramps and a variety of shops and restaurants along El Camino Real. Downtown San Francisco is about a 20-minute drive on the 101 (without traffic). Parking was a big plus too (not having parking facilities in a hotel in the Bay Area is always a deal breaker). Aside from the worn-out towels, comforters, and a mediocre breakfast array, I had a restful stay at this property and would book here again.
