“A very happy weekend trip”

We booked this break well in advance and got the 15% discount offered on line. We usually stay in Premier Inns and saw this as a great upgrade as it included a buffet cooked breakfast at The Hub - their in-foyer restaurant.Free parking was a big attraction so close to the sea front; in fact, after checking-out, they were happy (without question) for us to leave the car in their car park for the rest of the day. However, it seemed that some guests were unable to find a proper space and bumped-up on the kerb outside the entrance, so it seems that spaces were limited - so once we had parked we didn't move our car for the 3 days.The room suited us fine - hard floor throughout giving the whole place a super-clean feel. And the bathroom was a wet room with a shower only (who REALLY has a bath on these sort of trips?) which again avoided the whole unclean feeling that you sometimes get with stand-in bath-tubs with curtains.The provided shampoo and body wash was of a good quality and the hand wash was Dove brand.The air-conditioning worked fine and once I had found that we slept best at 22 degrees, we left it on all through the night. We would have preferred to have an open window but that was never going to happen on the sixth floor. We needed the air-con, though a little noisy, as on the first night it was quite stuffy.The breakfast was good, although at times not all items were available as they were bringing out fresh food in smaller quantities. The dinner menu was good but was more was suited more for convenience than a quality dining choice. It felt like the restaurant was run on a very small staff that doubled-up as reception staff, which was OK, but meant that tables were being left uncleared. The food for dinner was the sort of thing you would get in a pub - but no steaks :-( This was all reflected in the prices - nothing over £10. And we had the shared mix platter as a starter, breaded mushrooms, onion rings etc. which was served in a casserole dish - a massive portion which would probably have been enough for the whole meal! So we searched out a couple of other places to eat for the other 2 nights.All in all, a very happy weekend trip. We would definitely choose to stay at a Ramada Encore again.
