“Almost....”; Jan 09, 2013 Diane T, Tucson; When I set out from San Antonio, I wanted to be sure I had a reservation, because the area had had some bad weather. This was one of the few hotels that showed a vacancy online. After making the reservation, I read the reviews...and wasn't so sure.At the hotel the man at the desk, possibly the manager but I'm not sure, was quite helpful and reassuring. All the beds are new, he said. So I had a better feeling.The room appeared pretty clean (unlike the reviews). I did a quick bathroom check, covering a problem I'd had back east on a trip. The heater blew some cool air, which I reported to him. The wifi is absolutely low speed. He explained that all of Van Horn has only DSL, and it's the slowest of the slow (even slower than dialup, according to my Internet speed check). I was a little quick on the bathroom. As I was in the shower, I noitced some very long, dark hairs on the wall -- longer and darker than mine has been for a number of years. I reported this to the front desk when I checked out.The breakfast is the type that's becoming standard: waffles, eggs, cereal (no bowls that I could find, no hot water for the oatmeal that I could find), coffee, juice, sweet rolls/muffins.Basically, the front desk staff seemed to appreciate the negative comments -- and maybe they'll even work to make improvements. All in all, it was OK -- not great, but OK.
