“Great location, nice facility, terrible service”

We stayed here to take an early morning flight from Houston/George Bush Intercontinental Airport. it was a bargain rate through Hotels.com, and was convenient and fine for our purposes. The property was nice, clean, and modern enough, with plenty of parking. They seemed to be understaffed, because at check-in (7 PM Sunday night) we had to wait behind 2 other guests, and the lone clerk took about 20 minutes to get us to our room.The restaurant is a disaster. Very limited choices, long wait for service (dining room was 25% full), food was prison quality, but at hotel prices.My girl friend asked if she could play the piano in the lobby, and no one was sure if guests were allowed to use it. With supervisor approval, she was allowed to. It was out of tune and neglected, but she was grateful for a chance to practice.We had a bottle of wine with us, but the room had no refrigerator, so we looked for an ice machine. We were told that we could only get ice on request at the restaurant, so we went back for more poor service. Several guests wer waiting for ice and were ignored, so this became a 20 minute chore.The free wi-fi in the room was slow and unreliable. My iPhone kept losing its connection. In frustration, I disconnected from it and had to use my own 4G connection.No problems with the room, and we did have a comfortable stay before our flight at a bargain price. It seems to me that with a little more attention to detail by management, this hotel would be worth twice what people are currently willing to pay.
