“Reservation trouble but awesome manager”

I made our reservation on-line and received confirmation via e-mail for the two room suite. When we arrived with four very excited children we were told that we didn't have a reservation. They did some searching and found that even though i had a correct confirmation with date and location in my e-mail, the reservation system messed up and put it into the system for a different month. I was furious & the kids were sooo dissapointed. We traveled over an hour just to come stay at this hotel because of the pool/waterpark. The front desk clerk told me "never use the website or 800 number" because it "always messes up" people's reservations. She basically told me the hotel had a terrible service reputation with the website and 800 number. It had happened more than once. Then she proceeded to tell me that not only did they not have any suites available, they had no regular rooms either. But, we were so fortunate that the manager was working that night came over to see what the problem was and not only found us a room, he found us a suite despite them having "nothing available". He really saved the day for us. Although, i was very upset that he wouldn't give it to me for the price i was quoted in my confirmation. I had to pay $40 more. BUT, we were relieved just to get the room so we paid the higher rate. If he hadn't solved this problem for us, i would have never given a good rating for this hotel. He was a great manager and took over and did his job well. He also confirmed that it is always best to just call them directly and not use the website or 800 number. If this is such a problem, i am wondering why nothing is being done about it???
