“Tries to be higher quality, but falls short”

  , Seattle
The Ramada Portland Airport strives to be a nicer than average hotel, but consistently falls short. In all I found the same sort of dual standards throughout (see below). They have nice linens, but the beds are not as high quality as the coverings and the frame squeaked ridiculously. The lawn furniture by the pool is half flimsy, backyard plastic chairs (when you lean back too far you hear cracking) and half sturdier, higher quality plastic lounges. The toweling was big and fluffy, but the fixtures in the sink and bathtub were very outdated. There was a kitchenette (microwave and mini-fridge), but they were also very outdated (the 80's faux-wood paint style). There was a light switch that didn't do anything at all. We had a small flat screen TV, but all the other furnishings were older (the nightstand didn't fit properly between the bed frame and the wall) and the chair was pretty banged up.They offer free wifi, but the wireless and phones kept going out. They didn't even tell me either were not working until I reported them to the front desk. The phones were up and running within a few hours, but the wireless kept going out for the 3 days we were there. The cleanliness was average. I felt fine sleeping there, but there was debris of some sort of the bathroom floor when I checked in. Every day we had to go down to the desk or call for more towels. Even though I paid bed tax for 4 adults(and had a baby) they kept giving us only three towels, which was very frustrating. At the front desk I'd ask for 3 towels and get back to my room to find they'd handed me 2 towels and a face-towel.Also, it's a Ramada, so I expected something nicer conveniences, but they don't even offer a continental breakfast. There's free coffee and orange juice in the lobby and that's it. Really? Because bagels and a some bananas would totally break the bank?My take is that they try to come across as a nicer hotel where you'd want to stay for vacation or have a conference, but everything about their operations is focused on the 1 night airport guest who just needs a bed and a ride to the airport in the morning.I've stayed here before and would stay again. For the location, free airport shuttle, outdoor pool, and cheap airport parking it's appropriately priced. If you're expecting something nicer than say a Super 8 you might want to go elsewhere (and pay a lot more).
