“Unfortunate”

Didn't expect much, it was the only hotel available the nights we wanted to go. Booked it over the phone for a single queen bed for two nights. On arrival, the person behind the counter indicated that the room I reserved was actually a 2 queen bedroom. No big deal, mistakes happen. The next day I receive a belligerent voicemail from the office exclaiming why I had not removed my stuff from the room. I call back within 10 minutes of the original call and explain I am on my way to resolve whatever issues may have happened. I uncovered that I was booked for only a one night stay, and the staff had packed my bags for me and moved them into storage. That's fine, I thought, we will just cut our trip short, take our stuff and go. The office staff would not release our items until we had paid extra for the "weekend rate". After a discussion with a very agitated staff member, it was evident that the only way for me to obtain the items being held hostage was to pay for another night. I proceeded to do so, and left immediately. I will be seeking reimbursement for the night I had to pay for.
