“Terrible front desk experience! Get what you pay for!”

I travel through the Niagara Falls area often, 3 or 4 times a year. This was a first at this hotel, where we stayed two nights. The reason we chose this location was because I had a WagJag deal and thought we would give it a try. On entering the hotel lobby, they use a very strong deodorizer that smells like a washroom. Not a great scent to walk into. The girl I got at the front desk looked disheveled, in a wrinkled uniform?! Untucked dirty shirt, greasy unkept hair, day old makeup, I don't usually judge personal appearances, but if your the front desk of a hotel, your appearances reflect the business you represent. I wished I had received assistance from the other very friendly desk clerk. The room and hotel could use some updating, some stains on carpets, tub had some mildew stains, but average for the price. AC was very loud. The location was convenient walking distance to both the Clifton Hills and Fallsview areas. While sitting in the lobby waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. I overhear the manager fire an employee over the phone at the frontdesk and talk about it to other staff after. Very unprofessional and should have been done in the back office. On checkout, was where my experience went south and the reason I would not recommend or return. I was greeted by the girl from the day before with, "how did you get into your room last night? " in a very abrupt and accusing tone! I felt like I had snuck in somehow!?! I said with the key they gave me. I received some eye rolling and still not sure what I was being accused of? We just wanted to checkout and pay for our stay to be greeted with confusion and uncertainty about our stay did not make me feel reassured. I asked for a receipt showing me my charges and was given more eyeball rolling!?!? Not sure why this was a difficult request, I assume all hotels print off a receipt at the end of a stay. I typically have them delivered to the room before we leave! I was a little erked by this poor display of customer service, as now both girls at the desk on the morning of Aug.17, 2013 were evasive, brash, and non apologetic, not even a thank you. I've worked my share of customer service over the years and have never experienced poor customer service at a hotel front desk. This was a first and why I felt the need to make a review. There are too many hotel options in the Niagara Falls area. Save your money and go elsewhere.
