“Decent hotel, but not great ADA access”

Recently, my Boyfriend was in a motorcycle accident, leaving him with only one unbroken limb and making me a full-time caregiver. Towards the end of his healing, we headed out to Ocean Shores for a couple nights' getaway, as we'd essentially become shut-ins for two months. He had just had one cast removed, but a leg and arm were still useless. I reserved an Accessable room to allow him to use his wheelchair. I should have known things would be odd when the Accessable room was on the third floor. Yes, there's an elevator, but should there be an emergency, how do they think someone in a wheelchair would get out? The room was large, and long, giving plenty of room for a wheelchair to move around easily, and the bathroom was equally large. However, the tub/shower had no safety bars, no handicap seat, and the shower head is fixed, not removable. This made it pretty difficult to bathe him, and he had a working leg and half a hand...I do not know how someone with a more dibilitating condition would work with this set up. It was a little frustrating. I also do not recommend the restuarant. The food was pricey, but bland, and the burger was served with an onion root end instead of actual edible slices. Pretty lazy. The rest of the hotel was great for the price we paid. A decent indoor pool and spa was quiet and relaxinginly warm. The staff were great and every one of them greated us warmly and were really friendly. The hotel design is nice; every room has a window that faces the sea, at least from what I can tell. I'd stay again, assuming I don't have a broken boyfriend anymore :D
