“When we checked in the hotel staff were extremely nice and...”

When we checked in the hotel staff were extremely nice and the hotel lobby appeared very clean and the hotel seemed to be a very nice one. We checked in but did not go to our room right away, instead went out for some dinner and drinks. Once we got to our room later in the night, we realized that the wall paper by the air conditioner was completely peeled down, the curtain was covering it up. When I looked at it, I noticed there was some mold growing underneath. However, due to it being so late, we decided just to call it a night and advise the staff in the morning. (The room was average otherwise... the wall paper was bubbling off the wall on other areas in the room, but not like by the air conditioner) When taking a shower in the morning, I noticed mold growing on the shower curtain... so... when I checked out I told the staff about both issues. The manager that was there at the time advised me that she would have the hotel manager call me when he got in. Well it was four hours after the manager was suppose to "get in" and I did not receive a call. So I called and I spoke with the hotel manager, Sam. He stated that I should not have stayed if I was not happy with my room. I expressed to him that it was late when we got in and he stated that we could have looked at different rooms to see if we liked another one better. Well, this to me was not a professional response. There was no sorry for the inconvience or he didn't even state that he looked or would look at the room to fix it. The only thing he offered me was an upgrade if I decided to stay at Ramada again. All I have to say is at least act like you care about what your customers are saying. And as a hotel manager he should know what all of the rooms look like and what condition they are in.... and the wallpaper just didn't suddenly come off, so if he was a good hotel manager he would know this.
