“Over $100/night for this?”

  , Austin
From the road, this looks like any mid-priced motel. The parking lot was small and crowded. Christi at the front desk was friendly and knowledgeable of local eateries. She had a 2nd floor room ready for me upon arrival. The room was adequate in size but crowded with furniture and dingy. Everything looked old, the through-wall a/c was noticeably noisey. The carpet around the perimeter of the room was covered with a heavy layer of dust (that the vacuum cleaner probably does not reach). The tub/toile room was cramped. The bath tub was noticeably dirty/stained, there was rust near the diverter lever and a couple of other spots. The showerhead was low for me. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and single cup coffee maker. There were an adequate number of TV channels to choose from, Christi did have to note to me where to find the premium channel - not easy to fine in the mish/mosh that was the on-screen selection. The breakfast room was the reception lobby, there were hot selections (empty when I got the lobby at 7am) and the normal cold cereal, juice (sort of), milk, and some fruit. It is my observation that there is little mid priced hotel to choose from, probably due to the oil field industry, but this was not a good value for a one night stay. $69/night for this motel would still be too much.
