“Dark and outdated”

  , Geneva
This hotel reminded me of the motels from the 1960's or 70's. The hallways were very dark and uninviting. The lobby was bland and understaffed. During the afternoon and evening only one person was taking care of the front desk and entire facility. When we arrived we were given a second floor room. There was an elevator to the second floor but once there we had to unload our luggage from the cart and physically carry it down a half flight of stairs to our room. The only person available to help was a young girl who was in charge of the front desk. Her only comment was that there was a luggage cart available at the bottom of the stairs we were free to use. No offer to get someone to help us. My husband and I are seniors and this was difficult to manage alone. I did request a first floor room but was told there were none available for us. We did not see many cars or guests the entire time we were there. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. The fixtures inside the room were dated but adequate. None of the outside doors were ever locked. Our room was in the back side of the hotel. Even though there was a security lock to use with your room key, the door was never locked. Anyone could enter the building and reach guest rooms without being seen. There was a restaurant on the premises but we never saw anyone, including staff in it. As far as we could tell there was no breakfast available for guests. We ate elsewhere. The free internet did not work well at all and was so unreliable that it was not worth using.A few simple things could make this hotel more inviting for guests. The hall ways need to be painted with a light color - possibly cream or even white. Brighter lights are also needed. The few lights that were in the hall were only on the wall and did not give off enough light to be able to read with let alone navigate the hall. Ceiling lights would help. There needs to be an elevator that actually services the second floor guest rooms. The second floor is basically not accessible to anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs or with disabilities.Staff - even an extra person to help with guest needs. We needed towels one evening. I called the desk. The receptionist told me I would need to come downstairs to meet her to get towels. When I did so she was gone (looking for towels for me) which meant lobby was empty and unmanned. This could be a nice hotel but I doubt I would return r recommend it.
