“I would not return given the choice.”

  , East Haven
Frontdesk staff upon arrival was initially not helpful, insisting no room for a single adult was available for check-in less than 1 hour before the check-in time (2:10 pm). After much hemming and hawing, it was decided I could check-in, but could not go into my room until after 3:00, after I complained I did not expect to back at the hotel again until well after nightfall. First room was in desperate need of updates. Wallpaper in many places was coming down, the ceiling was in complete disrepair (especially in the bathroom), the black-out curtains could not be closed, & the bed was exceedingly hard. Not all channels on the TV were available. Upon finding a live bug in the bed & a roach in the bathroom, I requested another room. Nightstaff was helpful & friedly & had me in a new room in less than 5 minutes. The frontdesk manager's resolution the next day of reducing my per-night room rate only on subsequent nights by less than $10 was not adequate for the inconvenience of having to re-pack, move, and un-pack again, in addition to the overall feeling I was left with that the hotel was not as clean as it should have been. Continental breakfast was not adequately stocked or refilled efficiently on any of the 4 days I ate there, often resulting in waiting for 10 minutes or more for additional trays of food to be brought out one at a time, and a veritable stampede from the waiting guests once they were. Throughout my stay, the wi-fi was spotty and slow, making it impossible for me to work. In the 1st room I actually had to sign in through the free w-fi from a hotel next door (Residence Inn). Multiple complaints regarding the connection were met with, "Yes, we've heard that from other guests" with no indication that a solution had been sought other than to turn-off-and-on the hotspot while I was standing there, let alone was coming anytime soon. Overall, given the plethora of hotel options in the area, the room was not worth $72.50 a night, and barely the $65 a night the rate was reduced to for me. As my family lives in the Poughkeepsie area, I will most likely be making multiple trips a year, and will likely spend the extra money for a better hotel in the future.
