“Unacceptable”

  , Little Egg Harbor
We have visited this hotel in previous years and had mediocre stays. We came this trip as a place to evacuate from Hurricane Sandy. Reservations were made well in advance. I can understand that the conditions were difficult, but there were some basic aspects of the hotel that were not in relation to the storm. The noise level was horrendous. Next door to us the guests were loud, drunk and high with small children that cried constantly. Children ran and played up and down hallways on the fourth floor screaming and shouting and banging doors. Babies were left crying and unattended and ignored. My requests to front desk staff to intervene we're useless, and I was told that they were sorry for the "inconvenience".The only elevators in the hotel were not working properly well before we lost power. When I asked the front desk staff about this, they told me that they were working. Finally, they put up an "out of order" sign. Climbing four stories to our room was difficult due to poor health. The "maintenance" man had no idea what to do about the elevators and was not equipped to fix them.Garbage bags lined the hallways because there was no one to pick them up. There were no clean towels. There was no food for breakfast. Looters filled the parking lots immediately after power was lost screaming and yelling to one another and throwing empty glass liquor bottles on the ground. The entire hotel was filthy and dirty. The toilet leaked into the bathroom floor and down to the ceiling below us. We had an emergency with our pet and we could get no help from hotel staff being there were only two people running the entire facility which was packed to capacity. We left one day early due to the fact that the police were called to control a crowd of people who were called to the hotel lobby to be told that they were being thrown out of the hotel because contractors were coming into the state of NJ to assist with the recovery and needed a place to stay. The people were evacuated from their homes and had no place to go back to and had no help to find other places to stay. All in all, this was an horrendous experience compounded by lack of adequate preparation for a storm that we knew was coming well in advance of its arrival. Extra staff should have been called in to assist prior to the storm. This was a nightmare, and I want a full refund for the entire stay. Never again.
