Checkin was efficient, room was spacious, frig and microwave were a nice plus. The hotel is older and the appearance is not wonderful, but it seemed clean. However, when we turned the a/c on, it made a "clacking" noise that didn't go away. I told the desk clerk we needed a different room and he said he had no more rooms, but he would be right up. 5 minutes later I went back down and waited until he reluctantly gave in and came up. He punched the "fan" button and said "There, it doesn't make noise when it is on fan". I explained that wasn't good enough, as that wouldn't be giving us cool air (a statement that he tried to argue with). He repeated that the hotel was fully booked and I repeated that he needed to find something else for us. He finally did - and the next room was fine, except the phone didn't work (it wasn't a huge problem, so I let it go). There are some renovations going on, which hopefully will help the appearance, but the poor attitude of the check-in clerk reflects poorly on the hotel. The morning clerk was very pleasant and immediately expressed concern when I told him there was no dial tone on the phone.
