There are some really nice things about this hotel. The rooms are reasonably nice, the beds are comfortable. Things are pretty clean but carpets a little dated in areas. The food is pretty good. The restraunt was nice and the breakfast buffet was good. The pool area is very nice. Hotel staff is friendly, but not overly accomodating. My wife has an arthritic condition that flaired up. I was able to find a place to rent a wheel chair for the weekend, and things worked out. But when I asked the staff for assistance, I was pretty much told to talk to the manager in the morning. The only real issue was that there was some sort of meeting group in the covention area. There were quite a few smokers in the group and during breaks they would come out and smoke outside our room. This required that we leave the drapes closed all the time as they were basically on our patio. The smoke came in through the heating vents. It was not over powering, but noticable. Overall, I would say this is a slightly better than average place to stay. Make sure you get a room away from the meeting areas. « less

This is the fourth time I have stayed at this hotel. Once was to check it out with my father for a boat reunion during the national submariners convention being held at a different venue. The second was at the TOPS SRD convention, third at my father's reunion, and again this month for our annual TOPS SRD convention. I can say this time was a bit different as they had remodeled since I was here last, they have connected the convention center to the hotel so you don't have to walk outside to reach the expanded convention center. The hospitality room, promotional room and registration were now all at the convention center, which was more convenient instead of different levels in the hotel. The indoor pool in the atrium is now a salt water pool, very nice! My only negative would be the breakfast. The food was very good, plenty of it, plenty of variety with biscuits, gravy, eggs, potatoes, breakfast meat, make your own waffles plus the other usual cold fare. I only wish it was less salty. I am on a low sodium diet and I was puffy by the time I got home. Check in and out was smooth and painless. We asked for our room to be serviced in the afternoon second day as my granddaughter got ice cream on my bedsheets and our towels had gotten low. They came right away and took very good care of the mess. I would highly recommend staying here any time you are visiting Springfield. The hotel is close to the freeway and you can get anywhere in no time. I rated quietness of room a bit less as we had an atrium room and we could sometimes hear people at the tables or kids in pool. If the noise would bother you, ask for an outside room. « less

There was no Handicap Bars in Bath Room, None in Tub Area or Stool area. We had several Handicap people in our group. more »
