“Beautiful hotel with some room for improvement.”

Ramada Ojibway is a beautiful historic hotel with a view of the Soo Locks on the US side of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. We were there to buy our dream home in the UP. Our suite was large, the bed was comfortable, our pet was welcomed. The suite had a small kitchenette, but lacked a table. The tiny refrigerator was not plugged in and smelled strongly of mildew. We closed it And Never opened it again. Instead, we relied upon our cooler. The room was done in floral wallpaper and drapes, a bit dated but still attractive, except for the half inch of dust covering each of the lamp shades and each fold of the valences and much of the wallpaper. The housekeeping service was non-existent. Although we did not rise early, we were out of the room each day except the first & last by about 9:30 AM. The housekeeping staff did not pick up all of the dirty towels, did not make up the bed at all, did not clean the jacuzzi tub, did not remove all of the garbage. We did all of these things. My husband had to go down to the desk each evening to request clean towels. He also requested clean cups and a garbage bag. Although we were shocked, we did not complain because we must stay in this hotel with our 3 pets when we return to close On Our new home in May. It is the only option for us because of our pets. If not for the pets, we would not elect to stay in this hotel again. But someone who cares about this place could EASILY improve it by 1) performing a thorough spring cleaning of each room, including washing of the window coverings, and checking status of appliances, 2) asking guests at registration when they prefer to have housekeeping visit their rooms (to aid in scheduling), and 3) training their housekeeping personnel in customer service. This is a lovely old hotel with nice people covering the front desk. Somebody, please help them to succeed!
