“Kind of dirty looking but okay...I guess”

I won't knock this place too much, but it is somewhat old/dirty. I looks as though they try to keep it clean but you can only do so much with carpet that hasn't been replaced in years and you have several different guest staying there. It didn't have any bad smells because you can tell they work hard at keeping any kind of smells down with cleaning solutions you can smell throughout the hallways.Like all hotels I've gone to I sprayed and wiped down the place with some form of cleaner(s).The place was decently quiet and the staff was very nice. Breakfast was cool (waffles, cereal, bagel, etc). I was a little surprised the service desk had protective glass (bullet proof maybe). I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel that needed that....but it didn't bother me much because I grew up in Detroit and I'm kind of used to it. I'm not saying the area is not safe (because I don't know), but I did not hear or see any trouble; I mostly didn't care for the people I saw that **may** give some people an uneasy impression...but that goes along with judging a book by it's cover.I really don't have much more to say. I will suggest that if you are expecting a 4-5 star "look" in this hotel you need to move on. If you can be realistic and understand that you are not paying for a place that replaces carpet every 3 months you'll be okay.Would I stay again or pay more for a better place/location. I probably would pay more to stay somewhere else. Please don't look at my review as negative. If the place was to simply replace the carpet I believe that simple upgrade would lend to the overall look and smell (again, not that it smell bad). It really is an "okay" place :) If your funds are low I would say it will be okay to stay there a couple of days..
