“DIRTY room!”

The room was a mess. There were multiple old stains on the floor and it obviously had not been vaccuumed. I was too tired the first night to deal with it so left my shoes on until I was in bed. The bedspread was smoothed on top, but under it the sheets and blankets looked as though they had been thrown on the bed with no care whatsoever. The sheet was not even pulled down to cover the bottom of the corners. I did not discover until after I slept in the room that under the bed, initially hidden by the bedspread, were two candy wrappers and a rubber child's ball on one side, two socks on the end and a piece of an old sandwich on the other side. There were clear plastic wrappers on the floor under a chair. The chairs were filthy, again, stained as well as coated in dust. To top it off I killed 5 bugs on the bathroom floor that looked like silverfish. I called the front desk manager to my room to see the filth for himself. He seemed concerned and assured me it would be cleaned, but did not offer any apology nor compensation.I had no choice but to stay in the hotel as the other hotels were booked and I was under contract to work for the week. When I returned after complaining to the manager the worst of the chairs had been replaced with a cleaner one, though still stained. I asked the manager to spray for the bugs in the bathroom. I continued killing them throughout my stay. I suspect they were in the carpet as well but they were so tiny and the carpet so stained I wouldn't have seen them. Needless to say I never took my shoes off in this room. I also took all my luggage out to my car and left it there for fear of bringing bugs home.Finally, while the staff was pleasant, they did not present themselves well. The front desk manager wore a wrinkled shirt and looked as though he didn't comb his hair. From the first time I spoke with him he called me by my first name. It was easy for me to see why the cleaning staff did not take pride in their work as their manager obviously does not.I am a member of Wyndham rewards but after this experience I will avoid Ramada hotels.
