The neighborhood is a bit tacky, but we had no problems. We stayed the night before a cruise out of Port Liberty, so we had no car; but for those wanting to park, I did not see any onsite parking.A big plus is the free shuttle between the hotel and Newark Liberty Airport. This will also work for those arriving by train because the airport's free shuttle train also stops at the Amtrak/New Jersey Transit station. The photo on the booking website is a bit off-putting, but the interior is nice. When you see the exterior in person, you realize that the hotel is actually an interesting piece of Art-Deco architecture. Corollary: The hotel is old, but its interior has been remodeled to more modern tastes. The continental breakfast is nothing special: Just the usual stuff that you heat up. No hot food items like eggs, bacon or pancakes, not even a "do it yourself" waffle iron; the better continental breakfasts offer these. The staff was very friendly & helpful; they arranged to us to stay an hour past the normal checkout time so we could visit the World Trade Center Memorial in Manhattan. Access to there is good from the hotel: a two block walk to the PATH Journal Square station where you can take a direct 10 minute train ride direct to the World Trade Center station. The hotel also arranged for a limo to take us to our cruise ship, though this cost $45 rather then the $30 for a taxi as listed on taxi fare websites.
