“Conference Center not well kept”

  , Memphis
Hotel pool was clean & warm, but appears to be a neglected area of hotel. Far from desk with upstairs then downstairs required to get to it. The towels were not replenished on regular basis. There were six on first visit and none subsequent visits. This could have been easily remedied if the emergency phone was in working order. Phone did not work so I removed it from wall and placed on table. Thankfully there weren't any emergencies. It appeared from sign you, could only get front desk from sign by phone, why not allow calling rooms as well? There was no phone in adjacent fitness area, what if there was an emergency in there? The fitness equipment was old, so I chose not to use. Room was dirty, a beer can & dirty tissues were under bed there were noticeably dusty areas behind furniture. This Smoking Room smelled horrrible, it appeared as staff did not care to take any measures to prevent smoke odor. Because smokers deserve to smell stink? What about non-smoker who use and staff who cleans room. Curtains were dirty, window unit was nasty smelling, tip to management you need to change filters and clean more often in smoking rooms. Not, not at all. Windows are secured with a piece of wood, no lock in my room. It would not take an experienced criminal to break in to all lower level rooms. Hotel update is badly needed, windows should be replaced with blinds in between glass panes, and then there would be no more nasty curtains. Even vending machines were old.Quality of bed linens was poor there were tears, lipstick stains on pillow & no one wore lipstick. Most hotels have moved away from these type of linens. Stayed $20 cheaper the night before in Nashville in had a cleaner room with better linens at a different hotel most consider it to be a more "budget" chain. This hotel had free breakfast & indoor pool.Bathroom was so tiny you had to enter, close door to use toilet. No area for toiletries cosmetics, etc.Refrigerator was missing door shelves, need a defrost after our visit, noticed cord caked with dust when I went to remove it to cut off & defrost.Never went to breakfast, most hotels in this class offer complimentary continental breakfasts, a newspaper and serve coffee all day & cookies in evening.Card readers were hard to use on outside doors, requiring special care to insert card and remove at specific pace. Every door on hall had a tacky label how to move handle to open doors.I've stayed in worse hotels than this but do not recommend this hotel
