“Overwhelmed and unprepared”

We had 13 rooms for our baseball team attending a local tournament. There were three teams staying at the hotel and clearly they were unprepared for us. For the Friday afternoon check in there was only one person at the front desk. We had to wait a very long time and as a result were almost late for tournament opening ceremonies. I had ordered one of the larger rooms, when I had booked our team in the hotel over six months ago. I also confirmed this (and the group booking) with the hotel twice since then. However when we checked in I was told they didn't have it and because the hotel was fully booked I could not have my larger room. Huh? Furthermore six of the families had duplicate reservations. so the hotel had six extra rooms assgined to our team. Again not what I had confirmed earlier. It seems to me they use an archaic binder system for their reservations. I wonder if that is why I never received a confirmation number when I booked? Anyway the list of issues for our team goes on. We saw cockroaches in two areas of the hotel, the pool was unswimmable, one room had sheets with blood stains. Although the rooms were cleaned promptly each day, I found the hotel to smell quite musty in general. It just didn't feel clean. I guess you get what you pay for, but honestly I think this falls below Ramada's standards. Gary at the front desk was nice and tried to be helpful, but there were points where he was clearly overwhelmed by the number of people in the hotel. Suffice to say I will be staying elsewhere if we attend the tournament again.
