When I first arrived, I was greeted warmly by the staff and my room was in good appearance. I dropped my stuff off and left the hotel to attend my meeting. Unfortunately, everything deteriorated that evening. I returned from my meeting around 6:30. I had dropped out of the group dinner at a local pub, in order to spend the evening catching up on work in my room. So, I went to the hotel restaurant to grab a quick meal before working in my room. I am a Pescetarian, which means that eat only fish and seafood, but not meat. The hotel restaurant menu was very limited for me. But, I did order the catfish. I waited for about 20-25 minutes before the waitress came out and said that the kitchen was out of catfish. I could have ordered a shrimp "po'boy" sandwich, but I'm also diabetic and my sugar was running high that day. So, I ended up compromising and just eating some sort of ground beef dish. All the while, I could hear the waitress talking about me with the cook in the kitchen and about how I couldn't just order a hamburger. The upshot is that it took me 90 minutes to get fed and settled down to work. I worked until 10 and then went to bed. About the time I went to bed, the people staying in the next room came back. Although they weren't rowdy or loud, I could still hear them talking when I was trying to sleep.Around 12:30, I woke up and the room was like a sauna. Long story short, it turns out that the thermostat malfunctioned while I was sleeping and it was stuck on heat. When I looked at the temperature in my room, it was 85. So I spent the rest of the night, turning the heat on for half an hour, then turning off for an hour; then turning it on for half an hour, etc. etc. I really didn't get much sleep that night. And, in the morning, I could not check out of that hotel fast enough.
