“midnight fire alarms”

  , Virginia Beach
To start, let me just that we have a 3 and 1 year old. At 11:30pm the fire alarms went off for the first time. We quickly woke up and got the kids and started to make our way outside. As we were passing by the front desk the desk lady said there was not a fire and it was caused by a smoking room. After that the alarm continued to go off for another 20 min. After the alarm finally went off I was able to lay down again. The time is now 11:50pm. Kids are crying from all the noise caused by the alarm and getting woken up. The second alarm went off at 11:55pm and this time I went to the desk to only to be told to go back to my room because the alarm was once again from the smoking room. By now the whole hotel is awake and people are leaving. I would have left also at this time but I did not want to have to dress the young kids( 1&3) and take them into the cold outside. This alarm continues for about 5 minutes and then shuts off. People go back to their rooms again. Another ten minutes passes by and yes you guessed it, another fire alarm goes off. It is now after midnight and now the alarm is not shutting off. The person at the desk said that the fire department has to come and investigate before the alarm is shut off. More people are starting to leave, but again I didnt want to pack up the kids and take them into the cold night. At no time was the manager called in to handle all the questions from the guests. The look was more like a deer in headlights for the young lady working the desk. After the fire department arrived and looked around and then shut off the alarm AGAIN was I able to finally fall asleep. The time is now 1:15am. When I went to check out I asked what they were going to do for all the alarms going off throughout the night and I was told I would be contacted by the manager about the situation on Monday. It was only Saturday morning and after all of this the manager STILL was not coming in until Monday. What is that manager getting paid for? Obviously not for handling problems but just collecting a check. The pool is a 5 minute walk away from the main hotel to another building. The hot tub was not working and the pool was more for swimming laps then for a family. A big waste of time. Do not plan on having fun with young kids at the pool. There was not a changing table for the kids in that building at all. Overall this was the worst expirience I have had with a hotel in general. DO NOT go here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
