“improvements needed”

This is not a complaint letter, but a recommendation for improvement.When i made the reservation online I booked the 3 rooms under nonrefundable charge immediately. when I got to the hotel they demanded payment and I argued with the clerk who assures me my Amex was never charged. Then they wanted my Drivers license to take down number which I refused and then wanted to put $50 for each room for damage and then took an imprint- from the old style imprinters 20 years ago-of my amex card. Sends off alarm bells of potential for identifty theft.The rooms booked where smoking rooms - we did know ahead of time as only rooms left, but there is a difference smoking room and sleeping in an ashtray. The room was saturated!!!!!!!!!!!! in cigarette smokeBathrooms need extensive help - chair leg to hold up bathroom counter does not give me a feeling of quality maintance or modern accomadations. Chair at desk was VERY wobbly and ready to break the next time someone sits in it.My overall impression, franchise owner is extremely cheap and does not trust anyone. Needs to spend some of his profits on upgrading his facility. Not a role model Ramada.
