“I would like to have had a "remodeled" room!”

When I checked in the clerk was very nice. The room was hideous. Dirty carpet, The a/c kept going down to 60 degrees. Lamps were unplugged and the room was very dark. The fridge didn't work. The TV reception was snowy and unclear. I was above the pool and people were in the pool late, and others were in early (6:30) NO perimeter lighting around the pool (isn't that a state law?)! The elevators were slow, and filthy, the elevator license expired in August of 2012. The shower head was so low I had to bend backwards to get my hair wet. (I'm 5'5" tall)That being sad, I did like the mattress and slept well after the pool people left. I found out later a friend of mine stayed at the same hotel during the same time and had a remodeled room. When I checked out (a day earlier then planned) I asked the morning clerk why I didn't get a remodeled room since I made my reservations a month earlier and she said "You should have asked for one". How can you ASK for something that you don't know is available? That really was frustrating.....and disappointing. I just walked away.I am returning to Tampa the end of September, not sure where I will stay yet....
