“3 rooms in 2 nights - OMG what a place”

  , Selkirk
I had no issue with the fact that this hotel is 100 years old and knew to expect a small cramped room. I have stayed in historical hotels before so that is fine. The was a problem plagued stay. First night was a Rewards stay, at 4 in the morning the AC unit sounded like water running threw it, water was leaking on the floor and spraying out of the unit. Then the fan started squeling I called down to the desk to report it, I never could get back to sleep, a waste of reward points stay. The next morning we were told we would be moved to another room but it would be ready till later so all of stuff had to be packed up and put into storage till later. We later got the second room but at midnight just before we were going to go to bed a large bug which we believe was a cockroach was on the curtain, when I tried to kill it went under the bed, we began looking for it and had to move the bed, etc till we finally trapped it in a bag which I took down to the front desk. The clerk was surprised and said they had one more room left that we could move too, which we did because if it wasn't now approaching 1am we would have left the hotel never mind just change rooms. Oh Yeah I left the bug in the bag with the clerk who said he was going to show it to someone in the morning. The next morning the bill wasunder the door for the second night which wasn't discounted except it had now no charge for parking ($20). I inquired at check out if they were going to adjust our bill due to inconvience and the morning clerk called manager who gave us 25% off but added the parking so for all our trouble we got a big $7 off. Brians restuarnt next door is great and the roof top terrace is also a plus but if you want a good nights sleep I would suggest going elsewhere.Funny part was that when we checked out there was a box in the lobby with a AC unit in it. Likely the one that malfunctioned in our room the first night.Oh yeah, when you shower (remember this is an old hotel) be ready for wild temperature changes. I went from nice to burning to ice in less then a minute.
