“I was really stunned at the condition of the hotel.”

I chose to stay at this particular Ramada due to the convenient location of the hotel - it was really close to the venue where I was to attend my cousin's 50th birthday celebration. I traveled with a good friend of mine, and after checking in and entering our room, she and I were EXTREMELY disappointed. Upon entering the room, there was a very stinky stench smell and the furniture was very old and beat up. The walls needed painting and we were just speechless as to not expect the room in this awful condition for being a large hotel chain like the Ramada. I went to the front desk to ask for a refund of the deposit on my credit card and was told that I could not receive a discount until several days later when the manager arrived on duty. So, instead of leaving the hotel, I requested a room change. The second room we received was not as bad as the first room. It was cleaner, it smelled fresher upon entry and it was a tad bit better. My other complaint is that I was not aware that a hold of double the amount of the room charge would be held on my credit card until I arrived at the hotel. I booked the room online and on the website, there was NO indication of this credit card hold. What if I didn't have the funds available on my credit card for additional monies to be held? I guess I would not have been able to get a hotel room. That is very misleading deceiving and guests should be informed of that "small" little detail before booking a room. In conclusion, I must say that I thank goodness I was only in town for one night staying one night at this hotel, so I tried to make the best of it. However, I will not stay at this location ever again and I will not recommend this location to anyone. This experience has placed a damper on me choosing to stay at any Ramada location anywhere in the future. Thank you for allowing me to share my unpleasant experience.
