“Great location, below average room, inattentive front desk”

  , Vallejo
Stayed here the last week of April 2013. Location is great, just about a 5-7 minute walk to get to the gates of Disneyland/California Adventures. The room however, was.. blah. I got an upgraded room w/ a King bed and a jacuzzi spa. Our room was situated directly over the lobby, so I would think it would at least be better kept? I am not picky, esp when it comes to staying at a place when I go to Disneyland b/c I'm always looking for the best value, but this place was definitely lacking. Felt like it was left behind in the 70s! Had a musty odor, dingy colored, and just overall looked and felt old and neglected. Not what I was expecting from the Ramada, esp it being one of their upgraded rooms. The jacuzzi was also old, did not have a stopper or a working plug (had to shove a balled up showercap in the drain to keep the water in) and just wasn't cleaned very well. If you're just looking for a cheap room, this is it. But for $20 more a night, the Desert Inn & Suites, In my opinion, is a better choice, and is even closer than the Ramada. I also have a gripe with the concierge/front desk. I called the night before and arranged a taxi pickup at 11:15 AM. I even got a confirmation call from them about the taxi later that night. The next day, it's 11:30 AM, and the taxi still hasn't showed up. They finally confess that they dont make any of the taxi reservations, they pass on the information to the store in front of them (a place to buy discounted Disney tickets) and that store makes the reservations for them. What? Why? That seems so inefficient when they can call themselves much more easily? I end up calling the taxi company, and of course, there was no reservation for a pickup. I needed to arrange the whole thing myself (which I would have willingly done previously if the front desk had just told me so) and was nearly late for my flight. I dont think I'd stay here again. I'll take my chances at another place next time i got to Disneyland, or better yet, I'll stick with my tried and true Desert Inn & Suites.
