“Does Ramada mean something different in Canada?”

From the outside to the inside this particular hotel is dated and in need of repair and updates. The room was on the small side, the bathroom in need of some cleaning (please clean the shower heads, especially the tops as people touch them to adjust the angle) and painting (peeling wall paper and water stains). Our room was at the end of the hall next to the gym and perhaps the pool pump because all night long you could hear the motor buzzing and whirring. The front desk staff was not helpful and said "I don't know" a lot. When asked about placing phone calls from the room what the international charge would be all we got was "I don't know" not even a let me find out or I'll ask the manager. Add to this their "business center" was overtly dated. The computer would not connect to the internet (we're talking dial up speeds here - and they said it was high speed) and again when I asked about it was a "yeah the computer is old and yes the internet is slow." However the Front Desk's internet worked just fine - way to put the customer first Ramada!The last bit I will say is that it appears any updates they have done to the hotel are concentrated in the lobby. The giant flat screen television, the new decor, etc all in the front lobby while the outside of the building is in need of repair (we questioned if the place was even open) and the simple details like putting new televisions and real glasses in the rooms must be too much to ask for. We won't be staying at this particular hotel or hotel chain again. Next time we are in Victoria we'll spend the same amount and stay at a nicer place.
