“Ramada Plaza Downtown St. Louis - Substandard”

We should have know the hotel wasn't going to be that great when the guy who helped us take our luggage to the room said "I hope you like substandard hotes". We had a bunch of luggage (four ladies for three nights) so when we asked for a luggage card the guy said there wasn't any but offered to help us. He went in the back and got one that had two flat tires. He informed us that there were only three available and all had flat tires. He said there wasn't enough help people kept calling in. He informed us that it would be his last day and when he got back down to lobby he was planning to quit. Basically he just vented to us about how horribly things were going that day with a large check in of several ladies for a Woman's Conference. It was very unprofessional but I still felt sorry for the guy. He was right about the substandard. We had no trash can and it took till the afternoon on the second day to get one. We called front desk to ask for more towels and a trash can and they wouldn't answer. when we finally got told them what we needed in person we still had to ask again the next morning. The carpet was never vacuumed. The A/C didn't work well. We had to put it way down to get it remotely cool enough in the room. The cleaning staff kept putting it back up and it would take a while to get it cooled down again. There was a menu by the phone that said food was available via room service till 10:30. When we called down to order food around 10:00 the guy told us they stopped serving at 10:00. When I asked why the menu said 10:30 he just said well we stop at 10:00 and was rude about it. The tub was in need of some serious bleaching. I will say the beds were comfortable though which was a nice thing. We expected so much more for the price we paid. At the very least to have much better service and a cleaner room. I will not stay in this hotel next year when returning for the 2014 Women's Conference.
