“Clean & Friendly - Seems to be Updating”

  , Bloomington
I stayed with dogs for a Nationals event. Pet fee was excessive in my experience, but hotel availability very limited due to event size. Here are the issues first, but stay tuned - there's some really good stuff coming as well!Bathtub totally plugged up & stood in 8" of water for quick shower - BUT, it was immediately rectified when reported & no further issues; that's a plus! Toilet like riding a rocking horse - the unavoidable noise caused the dogs to come running to see what happened until they got used to it. OK, there was a tad bit of amusement in that. Perhaps not reported by prior guests? This is not something staff could know from have to "experience" it! When I reported on checkout, clerk was attentive & apologetic; said it would be fixed same day. No other issues. The good stuff... room was clean and attended to very nicely each day, sheets were NOT stained. Kudo's to the housekeeping staff; they do a really good job and this is the biggest factor for me. Front desk staff over all shifts friendly & smiling. On check-in, clerk acknowledged I'd requested a ground-level floor (dogs) & was able to give me the last one - VERY much appreciated this. I've had many times the request is not even acknowledged, even understanding there are so many to go around. This hotel has inside facing rooms & is not a drive-up, which I like. I was running too late each morning to partake of the continental breakfast area, but it and the pool area looked very clean as I passed by morning and evening. I used the coffee maker in the room (thank you) because it was actually clean, whereas my last few stays at other hotels were not. I used the refrigerater and it worked well too and was spotless! Flat screen TV & WiFi worked well. They were painting the outside, and with all this combined I think they must be updating the property little by little. There is plenty of grass around for pottying the pooches and apparently all were picking up after themselves when I was there because there were no "land mines". ;-)Overall I was very pleased and the room cost itself was OK, but as I said...the pet fee I think should be lower. I would definately choose this property again if staying in the area, especially hearing feedback from friends at other nearby hotels. One other thing...location was really accessible and easy to get to! Was at an event at Champions Center and it is a quick and easy shot down the interstate!
