“First time in 50 years we asked to change rooms or fot a refund”

  , Tempe
This motel was clean and reservations were made easily. We got a room on the ground floor near the heated pool and hot tub. All went fine the first night, except that a faucet in the sink did not adjust properly and was almost impossible to turn off. I reported the faucet and they said maintenance would be notified. We never saw them. Then, at four in the morning the neighbors got up to shower, at 5 other neighbors showered, at 6 others. The Pipes were very loud, but we just figured it was an older unit with poor insulation. We regretfully, had booked two nights. The second night, the room above us was occupied and at half past midnight, after over an hour of non-stop walking in the room above made it impossible to sleep because of the loud foot thumping and squeaking floor, we called the office. They said they would talk to the folks above, but if they did, the people continued to pace their room. When the request to quiet the upstairs neighbors was not successful, my husband dressed and went to the office and requested a refund as we planned to leave. They would not refund the room charge for the second night and gave us a room on the ground floor (my husband insisted on a room with no occupants above) facing the highway, which was actually much quieter than the previous room. The pipes were not as loud as in the previous room. I was very concrerned, however, that the pool, which we had tried the night before, was still unlocked in the morning. The latch on the pool would not close, any child could exit a room and get into the pool area. There was a large chain with a lock on the gate, but it did not lock the gate and the latch on the pool fence was not functional unless a heavy enough adult stood on the gate to get it closed. Three plastic chairs at a table by the pool had cracked backs and you could not lean back. I reported this to the desk upon checkout. Their usual reply was "we will report it to maintenance". I would not bet that any repairs are done yet.
