“The concept was good”

I chose this Ramada location because I have a large family. I often look for hotels that have a separate master bedroom, so I don't have to reserve 2 rooms, and be separated from my kids. The layout of the room was great! The bunk-beds in the "kids" room worked well for 3 of my kids. However... The hotel needs some TLC. The carpet was old, the lobby was cheap, there was visible light around the entire door (not good for sound-proofing), and the whole experience left much to be desired! I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express on our way to this location, and on the return trip. While the rooms were similarly arranged, the HIE was MUCH nicer (and for $30/night less).Also... The water slide was a nice attraction. However, there were a number of teams/bands of high-school kids staying there. They were behaving in such a dangerous manner, I had to take my kids out of the pool. There was no supervision of the slide, and the pool is so small that the kids were basically landing on top of each other repeatedly at the end of the thing. In my mind, it was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Those same kids were noisy until midnight, and playing cards in the hallways. Nobody from the hotel seemed to correct the situation in order to preserve a decent experience for the rest of the guests.Given the opportunity to return to Red Deer (there will be many), I believe I will look for a better overall value.
