“Decent hotel, good service from over-worked staff”

The hotel is kept in good shape, although I wonder why they would be replacing carpets in the halls on a weekend that they were fully booked. The doors close very heavily and loudly - maybe the compression hinges could be tightened? Our check in was handled very efficiently and courteously by the front desk clerk. During our stay, I noticed that at or around check in time, and again I mention that the hotel was either fully or nearly fully booked, there was only one front desk clerk on duty. This seems awfully insensitive of the management, not only to have the customers wait in line to check in, but also to put the employee in that position. I would suggest better management to more appropriately schedule for peak periods.
