“Below average”

  , Calgary
The hotel caters to industrial workers in an area with tight accommodation so they don't have to provide much in the way of quality or service and they certainly don't. They are charging a premium rate for a below average facility. In addition, it serves as a truck stop so the noise factor can be a problem. The staff appeared bored and were not overly friendly. The room odor was very bad. We had to open the doors and windows to air the place out. We were there for a wedding so we knew a number of other people that were staying in the hotel and they all reported the same problem. Asking for another room didn't seem like an option.Breakfast was in the adjoining restaurant and was buffet style. The quality was not great but you could make up for it in quantity so it is good for the many workers that stay in the hotel and the truckers using the truck stop facilities. The restaurant itself is run-down - like the hotel. I didn't see one booth that didn't have torn upholstery. In spite of all this, I expect that almost every hotel in town is similar. Way overpriced for sub-standard quality. With much more demand than supply they don't have to meet minimum standards.
