“Perhaps it was because we had just left a 4 star which cost...”

Perhaps it was because we had just left a 4 star which cost considerably less that I was disappointed . We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and had no major issues apart from the bathroom light being inoperable. However, the hotel had severe water damage to the main floor. For these reasons I felt that the price could have been discounted further. The room was fine and what I had expected otherwise. Breakfast was not as good as I remembered and as I am now gluten free I felt that there were not a lot of options for those with special dietary restrictions. I understand that with the recent flooding that there would be damage however, when I called to confirm everything was normal with the hotel no indication was given that any damage had been received. As I mentioned the 4 star we had stayed at was also in the flood zone only had received no significant or noticeable damage to their facilities and the price was almost $100 less a night. Mind you I do get a good discount there. Just some thoughts. I understand that business as usual would be important especially in maintaining profits during peak season when the tourism load factor has reduced so substantially due to flooding, however, perhaps more promotional deals would be beneficial for those who had booked in advance and were concerned with the damage to hotel prior to arriving.
